MOORE'S LAW
In 1965, Intel co-founder Gordon Moore predicted transistor density on microprocessors
would double every two years. This prediction, so far, has proven amazingly accurate. If it
continues, Intel processors should contain between 50-to-100 million transistors by the
turn of the century and execute 2 billion instructions per second. To meet that challenge,
Intel is already developing new techniques to fabricate these complex processors.
