The Way to Recognition Through Solitude.   Division Moving
We first heard his music listening to Radio Rocks (program “Back to the Universe”) A studio-cassette, full of pleasant and professionally done music, appeared half a year later. And we put ourselves a question: who is that Andrei Ros and how could it come out so, that being a musician of a good European level, he has been unknown for so long?

— Let’s talk about the beginning of your creative work. It’s interesting to know the whole story - from the very first days till today.

— To tell everything briefly is very hard. It all began in 1980, when I started making the guitars, and what’s more everything except the string and stings was mine. And I was certainly engaged in the guitar music. By the way, now I’m trying to remaster my old records.

— But the guitar music seems to be far from the modern electronics.

— Don’t be so sure in it. There are lots of good points in the sounds of electroguitar. One could find indescribably beautiful effects in my self-made guitar lotions. And besides, some of my experiments with them included empirical expulsion from the scheme of some details, and the insertion of the different ones. I first listened the music by “Pink Floyd” when I was nine years old. I was really streck. And that is the guitar music.

Do you mean that you came to the electronic music from the guitar rhythms. Was that done spontaneously?

— Probably, yes. I had quite a long break in my creative work. I studied painting. You’ve got only the microphones & 6 strings in the guitar music, and you get “closed” there. Electronic music opens a wider fields for creating.

— Have you ever wanted to isolate yourself from the society, from show-business?

— There is something in it, but the element of competition should always be present. It is interesting to know who and how state their musical thoughts.

— Do you plan any “life” performances?

Sure. Had I found a sponsorship. I would play with great pleasure. But I don’t want it to be done on a low level, I don’t want my music be listened by a croud came to dance.

— Have you got your musical archives, may be unpublished records?

I have. However, many of these records need to be restored. But, on the whole, I’m ready to publish about 20 CDs. I’ve been creating electronic music for 2 years (working not very densely). Earlier I was engaged in and strove for other things.

Where do you record your music?

At my place I’ve got only a simple sintezator. I record my music in a private independent studio. It’s great that I can spend the whole night tete-a-tete with the apparatus...

I should say that I write all my music in a “life” way (each path is written in the real time regime). I believe that the real musicians should work in this very way. I do not ever use secvensors, while recording.

To buy an equipment, to rent a studio, to work in the janre of the electronic music, one needs lots of money. How did you selve this problems?

I’ve been facing money problem for many years. I had to work much. Nothing comes suddenly. Only recently could I spend some money on the equipment and on the creative work on the whole.

Are there exits in your thoughts, images that dominate in your music?

Music must have light. No signs of civilization should be present there, it should be pure and remote from the outward word. But to see the light, the contrast should be given: the light, the contrast should be given: the darkness must also be shown. But on the whole, I do not associate my music with anything. These are only my thoughts, my philosophy.

What do you think of the modern musical trends, rave for example?

I find myself out of the modern musicals trends. I personally, think that everything is repeated there, and everything is very cyclical. It is difficult to find something new.

And, finally, do you have any regards to your readers?

Work more. Never stop on the achieved things and always raise your own lath and level.

is the first serious work in electronic music in Belarus. It was quite obvious, that good non-commercial electronics wouldn't be actively bought up in the numerous musical kiosks. Yet they ran a risk... And it is worth while mentioning that the results exceeded all expectations. The music itself is penetrated with the mood of the universe's infinity, with the darkness of novel and unknown things. By its spirit the project R.O.S. reminds us of well-known electronic performers: Klaus Schulze, SOFTWARE, and sometimes even FSOL. It is pleasant twice, that the quality of all tracks is on good European level. From the point of view of the composition, the album is also very well done. You won't find here that techno-mini-malism, which is so much loved now in Minsk. Just on the contrary, the music is very varied, full of melodical lines, subjects and atmospheric collages. A vast collection of all possible space sounds, the sounds of analogous synthesators and samples is used here. Sometimes a mild unobtrusive trance bit cuts through the cosmic symphonies, but it does not irritate or make you tired of it, it gradually goes away, into the emptiness... Its an ideal music for meditation and relaxation. It gives you an opportunity to plunge into the life cycle of the Universe, to see the far haziness and star accumulations, and to understand what is the tranquillity and silence os space.
