- Napoleon Orda (1807-1883) was a Belarusian artist
and composer.
- He had to flee from the Motherland after taking part
in the 1831 uprising.
- When in Paris, he took lessons from F.Chopin and P.
Gerard, was a friend of A. Mitskevich. He also was Director of the Italian
Opera House in Paris.
- After coming back to Belarus in 1856, he devoted his
life to eternalize the samples of Belarusian culture. He traveled a lot
across his homeland, made sketches of the architectural monuments and landscapes.
- He composed music, carried on charitable activities,
gave public concerts.
- In 1873 he published the Grammar of the Music.
