ALEXEI
KUZMICH
THE FAMOUS CREATOR of
'BYELARUSIAN MADONNAS'
- October 14 to November 11 1996 the paintings
by Alexei Kuzmich were exhibited in the Minsk Palace of Arts. His paintings,
powerful and impressive by themselves, when displayed together enhanced
the impact of one another and created a special unforgettable atmosphere.
Here are some impressions, written down by the visitors. Your

- I want to ask you: why do people do EVIL to
one another? Why do they hate each other? Having come here I felt warmth
and tenderness, pain and sorrow, purity and bliss. Something has changed
in my soul. I don't want to go away. It is warm here*... I feel an influx
of energy. It's just filling me. Invisible light - but I can see it. Rather,
I feel it. It is radiating from your soul, from your heart. It is just
a remedy for my soul. Everyone who comes in feels it.
- Thank you. You have done a lot. For our souls...

- Actually, inside the exhibition hall it is
about + 15 C, colder than outside. ...
- StilI, I would like to stay here forever.
To stay in the world, created by you. Here there is a sincere, light joy,
purity, inspiration. Here is the world, where the dreams and reality meet,
where the dreams turn reality ...
- Thank you!

- Uncle Liosha*!
- All your Madonnas - luxe! I also liked the
portrait.
- Masha Akulik, 7 years old
- * Liosha is diminitive for Alexei. This
is the way children address adults in our country.

- Dear Alexei Vassilievich,
- They used to tell me, that love works miracles...
I never believed. Today I have changed my mind. Now I believe, that this
is true about love. About Love, capitalized! It turns earthy women into
Madonnas.
- I would, probably, bring men to your exhibition
(just oblige them to come!). Probably this would help them to understand,
that it is Madonnas who are living next to them (divine virgins, and not
rock-stars).
- Thank you for your Love to the Woman.
- Svetlana Gordei and Variusha
- ...
- There is a dictum: It is the woman, who brings
sins, it is a woman, who brings salvation.
- Mary gave birth to Our Savior. Your Madonna
is a woman from the world of peace and prosperity. Your exposition is an
answer to the pervert and corruption brought to our homed by TV and finding
way to us through the kiosks. Thank you for your exhibition.

- I liked the exposition of your Madonnas very
much. They are really beautiful, even when their eyes are so sad. Although
motherhood bring a lot of happiness! You perfectly managed to create the
images of your contemporaries: Viktor Turov, Eremenko. I wish in future
you paint more of earthly women, not only 'Madonnas'. You have a gift of
tuning into the soul of a person and show it in your portraits. You can
do a lot more than Madonnas. Please, do it! ...
- I bow my head before the amazing job you have
done. I am grateful for the beautiful images, for promotion of Motherhood
and for resistance to death. We address to the Government with a request
to allocate money to construction of a special museum, a Mother's Temple*.
- *This suggestion was supported practically by
everyone who wrote later.
- ...
- It was really great. I 've never seen anything
of that kind. Thank you very much*.

- When entering the hall where the pictures
are exhibited, you just feel light coming down to you, just powerful and
warm light, which makes you tremble with delight, and the tears fill your
eyes. The very special atmosphere makes you forget the routine, you just
cleanse your soul, start understanding basic things, forgotten in your
day-to-day life: the Mother, the Child, Love, Purity, Peace, Universe -
all are united against the evil.
- My gratitude from the depth of my heart,
- V.Prokopieva Physician
