Appeal of Synod of
Byelorussian Exarchate to orthodox people and communities
The spiritual centre of Byelorussia
in Zhirovitzy, blessed by apparition of miracle-working icon of Our Lady,
harbours the Minsk's higher theological seminary.It is the only educational
institution in our Repudlic training orthodox priests.
Now our
country is going through hard times. People lose their moral criteria.
Hence this seminary, which has been restored in 1989, is entrusted with
historic task to train good and devoted pasters of orthodox congregations.

But it comes difficult to Seminary
to fulfil this task because of bad economic conditions and dilapidated
state of its building, which needs major repairs. If Seminary doesn't receive
any emergency help, this building, known as a monument of eighteenth century,
can collapse one day.

At present Seminary
trains 185 students in fulltime tuition and practically the same number
of those in tuition by correspondence. 50 persons form the teaching and
serving staff. Payments of dioceses of Exarchate to maintain Seminary are
not yet enough to cover the running costs.

clergy and congregations in Byelorussia and abroad and beg sincerely for
possible help. Your support would be highly appreciated and we thank you
