A Monastery and Radivil Castle… (26.08.97)

Beautiful Nesvizh is an architectural pearl among ancient Belarusian cities. First it was mentioned in a chronicle in 1223. It was connected with the name of Uyry Nesvizhsky perished in a fight on Kalka River. From 1533 to 1793 the city was a private property of princes Radivils. For very short period of time (1584-1616) Radivils had built up a new city, invited Italian architecture Y.M.Bernardoni for this purpose. In the old days the center of the city was a market square, in the middle of which there was a town council surrounded by market lines.

A great deal of that was destroyed by the time, but much of white stone Nesvizh architectural monuments have been kept safe. For example, there has been restored the monastery and the famous Radivil Castle surrounded by a park ensemble.

The heart of the city is a visiting card.
