Two New Underground Stations Will Be Opened.
The chairman of Minsk City Executive Counsil Vladimir
Yermoshin promises to the inhabitants of the byelorussian capital that
the new section of the underground ("Partizanskaya" & "Autozavodskaya"
stations) will be opened on the 7th of November 1997. The whole length
of the capital's underground will grow by 8 kilometres. At the press conference
held on the 25th of February the mayor also informed that today's Minsk
is one of those few cities in CIS where the development of underground
communications is being continued.
City's administration needs about 320 billion roubles
to continue the construction of the underground. And the City Executive
Counsil also hopes to get 3 new electric trains which cost 150 billion
roubles through the mediation of Moscow Municipality in exchange for trolleybuses
made in Belarus. According to vladimir Yermoshin's words, putting the new
stations into operation will make this means of public transport 100% repaid.
