Not long ago some Canadian giornals and magazines publicated the foto of two Byelarussion schoolboys from Ratomca-Valery Babitski and Ivan Lazartchik. There little fellows took three gold medals in the mountain skiing competitions in the World Winter Special Olimpics that took place in February in Canada.

The competitions Special Olimpics are paticular. They are for people that have problems with fisical and mental development but that nevertheless have achieved success in sport. These competitions are not for the sake of high resalts but to overcome yourself and to feel self-confidence. That's why there are no failures in such Olympic games-there are only winners. The movement Special Olimpics has about thirty years and the last five years the byelarussions participated in it.

This time the command of our country had sixteen sportmen demonstrated their abilities in skiing races, high speed skating, mountain skiing and figure- -skating. They are pupils of the Voronovo special school( the region of Grodno), the Kamensk boarding-school( the region of Mogilev), the boarding- -scool N 8 of Minsk and the special boarding-school of Ratomka. Each of them was rewarded with a medal in Canada, and some of them had several medals.

-The best sport buildings and hotels of Toronto and Hollywood were given to the participaters of the Olympic games. The fact that the sportmen- there were two thousand of them from 75 countries-were served by 6 thousand of volunteers including judges, interpreters, medical men, tecnical staff- -testifies to the grate human purpose,-speaks the National Director of the Byelarussion Commitee Special Olimpics Galina Dzuritch.

These days the whole Byelarussion command was invitated in the Ministery of education where the celebration of the winners have taken place. The children have received presents.

-Everybody has some vital problems-small or big. But everything depends on how a person overcomes tham,-told the Minister of education Vasily Stregev in his appeal to the childen.-The fact your have become the participaters of the Wold Competitions, have won the warders speaks of the availability of grate forces of life your have. It means your will be able to overcome misfortunes and to win victories in future.

To achieve these victories the sympathy of the surrounding is need. But in spite of all our difficulties there are people that have more of them.
