Briefly

The composition by Oginskys` successor.

This week the Belarussian Ambassador in Great Britain Vladimir Shchasny presented the F. Skarina National Scientific Centre with the manuscript "Kleofas Oginsky" by the King Zalussky, the successor of the famous composer.(23.01.97.)

The head of the Centre, a well-known Belarussian scholar Adam Maldis comments:

"The author of the manuskript lived in England and thoroughly collected information about the life and creative work of our compatriot. He had been to the libraries of Warsaw, London, Moscow and Paris.

Mr.Zalussky does not charge anything in return short of one thing- a part of the revenue from its publication should be spend on the restoration work of the Oginskys` mansion in Zaliessie (Smorgon region)."

The non-governmental organizations are checking their policy. (24.01.97.)

Today in Belarus there are over 1250 non- governmental organizations on the national and local levels. Although not every one operates actively, they are quite efficient in political respect. The issue was assidiously discussed at the first summit of the non-governmental organizations of Belarus. The summit was initiated by the L. Sapega Democratic Reforms Fund, the Assosiation "Belarussian Future", The Belarussian Assosiation of Journalists. It is supposed that on the 22 of Februar the first assembly of non-governmental organizations will take place in Minsk.

Let`s provide Uzbeks with galoshies.(24.01.97.)

An extended order has been made by Uzbekistan with the rubber plant in Kritchev. According to the preliminary agreement the Kritchev plant is to deliver 1 mln. pairs of galoshies. The Belarussian galoshies fit perfectly to the Uzbeks. Last year were delivered 6 wagons of the goods.

The manufacturers made sharp-toed galoshies in the Southern fashion. Small lots of them have been bought by Azerbaijan, Dagistan, Kirgistan, Tadjikistan and the Ukraine. For the Russians and Belarussians there is another model of galoshies that fits valenki. There is also a demand for the Kritchev sport shoes. So the rubber plant works in three shifts and during the last year it did not stand a day idle.
