In the near future the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is going to hold the parliamentary hearings, where the point will be about the status of the deputies of Supreme Soviet of the 13th calling. But those who haven't become memders of the new legislative body don`t sit by.
It has become known to journalists during the meeting with Pyotr Kravchenko and Vladimir Nistuk. As they have informed, about 50 "supremesovietmembers" have regular sessions and draw up bills. Soon they will consider, for example, the State budget for year 1997 and address their recommendations to the government. Presidium of Supreme Soviet, which has now 6 persons of 9, also functions.
As a matter of fact, two parliaments work in the Republic. The deputies of Supreme Soviet of the 13th calling preserve their status up to year 2000. Their spirits have also raised after the decision of the Standing committee of the Interparliamentary assembly, which, doing the choice between the delegations of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly and Supreme Soviet, has chosen the latter to represent parliamentarians of Belarus in this organisation. It looks like Europe doesn`t believe in signs and figure "13" doesn`t scare it.
Pyotr Kravchenko, informing the journalists about the particulars of the procedure in Vena, has noticed: all the countries, even the members of CIS (Azerbajan, Georgia, Armenia, the Ukraine, Kazahkstan, Kirgizstan, Turkmenia, Moldova), were unanimous. At first the representative of Russia voted also like this. But in half an hour he clarified his attitude to the partner of Community and offered however not to hurry and to send the delegation of experts to Minsk to make clear the situation on the spot.
Vladimir Nistuk underlined that the deputies of Supreme Soviet of the 13th calling had always come out for development of the relationships with all the countries, including Russia. Simply we cannot find the truth in our own fatherland,- Vladimir Nistuk says, and Europe understands and supports us more.
