The visit to our Republic of the Mission of European Union headed by the member of State Council of the Netherlands Ari Kosto began with the meeting with the president of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko. It took place on the 27th of January

Greeting the guests, the leader of the byelorussian government said in particular that the necessity to meet and discuss the problems that arise in the relationships of Belarus with european structures had become ripe a long time ago. According to Alexandr Lukashenko's words, he recently acquainted himself with some conclusions of european politicians regarding the Referendum in Belarus and he was surprised by presence in them simplest mistakes. It is connected, in the President's opinion, first of all with "lack of knowledge either old or new Constitution of the Byelorussian state". In this connection Alexandr Lukashenko promised to give the experts an opportunity to work fruitfully in Belarus, to visit, in particular, any organization and to speak with any citizen of the Republic. The leader of the state underlined that the both sides were interested in the possibility for the experts to make objective conclusions and give an objective characteristic for the processes taking place in Belarus in the result of the visit to Minsk.

Commenting upon the results of talks of the members of the Mission and the President, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ivan Antonovich mentioned that most questions of the guests concerned authority of the new legislative body of the Republic and division of powers. "We hope that the visit of this most authoritative Mission will dot one's "i's" and cross one's "t's" and the european organization will get the objective information about the situation in Belarus",- Minister said.

According to the words of the leader of the foreign-policy department the President also declared that the western direction in the foreign policy remains priority equally with the eastern one. It means that Belarus will strive for integration with all european structures as an equal democratic and sovereign state.
