The Russian pilots who perished when falling the heavy fighter MIG-31 had been Belarus born. As has already been informed, the catastrophy happened last week in Arhangelsk region.
Their plane, allotted to the devision of the anti-aircraft defence troops of Russia and based on the air-base in the town Kotlas, crashed down into the boggy forest swamp from the height 12-13 kilometres through obscure circumstanses. On the collapse place a crater with diameter of 15 and depth of 6 meters arised, and soon filled up with water, that impeded the work of savers. Only in the fifht day they managed to establish, that the plane`s crew- Major Vasilij Strizhennikov and Captain Yurij Scherbanyov, Grodno and Gorki (Moglyov region) born haden`t baled out. They had perished, trying to save the plane.
As the BelTa correspondent was informed in the press-service of the Byelorussian Ministry of defence, the bodies of the rerished pilots had been taken to Belarus on the 24th of January. According to the instruction of Major-General Alexandr Chumakov, the Minister of Defence, headquarters of Air Force and leaders of military garrisons will render assistance in funeral organization. The courageous pilots will be burried with all military honours in their Motherland.
Major Vasilij Strizhenikov's wife and two children and Captain Yurij Scherbenev's wife and son haven't waited them from the last flight.
