Independence is the qualification of the main square.

The 27^th of July is the date of declaring Belarus a sovereign republic in the world by the Belarusian parliament.

Though the results of the last referendum were not for this date as the republic had voted for joining up The Independence Day and the Liberation Day the opposition could not fail to cancel this date.The United Civil Party together with the nationalist Belarusian Popular Front were allowed to carry out the procession along the avenue and to hold a meeting on the Paris Commune square by the walls of Opera and Bailey theater.

The procession started on Yakub Kolas square where approximately 3-4 thousand people gathered under the burning sun.The column of demonstrators walking along the carriageway was headed by two boys on the roller skates with torches in their hands,a bit later a churchman handing a burn incense joined the first rows.

Having turned to the Svisloch embankment at the Victory square the column made its way to the theater where it was to have met a surprise.However the concert of Belarusian rock-groups which was the surprise was foiled for some unknown reasons.Somebody had broken the agreement and no electricity was given to the site near Opera and Bailey theater.

Very soon all the present got bored and began to discuss the latest news which is the unexpected detention of Russian correspondent Pave Sheremet,also unexpected search of nationalist Belarusian Popular front’s office and etc.Some enlivening was made by a loud shout ,,Electricity to all the country,, but that didn’t solve the problem.

A large balloon took white-red-white flag up to the sky, young people burned a large ,,spider-dictatorship,, just on the stairs,the most determined musicians began to sing without a microphone and the organizers had to announce the end of the meeting.But long afterwards people stood on the stairs waiting for the holiday,which was to have taken place...
