A New Holy Man. (September 22, 1997)
Senior priest of St.Nickola's Temple in the neighboring Ogorodnyaa village Jonah Glushkevich died in his late 70s in 1917 & was buried there. Piligrims coming to his tumb maintained that their worship to this holy man helped them to average many diseases. As the church in Ogorodnyaa village burnt down in the 50s it was decided to replace the holy relics to St.Pokrov's Temple which was at its time founded & consurated by Jonah Glushkevich. The Synod of Belarusian Zorthodox Church decided to make the holy relics of the Saint available for worship. There also was an agreement to portray him in the icons which will be worshiped during funerals. All the documents about the Saint, his life & activity, his influence on people were sent to Patriarch of Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow in order to add the name of the righteous man to the list of Belarusian saints.
