A
New Generation Chooses "Ford"
On the 18th of July an official
ceremony devoted to the begining of building the plant of the company "Ford
Union" was held in Obchuk, the suburb of Minsk. The practical realization
of the project is entrust to the rent enterprise "Minskremstroy".
The
first stage of building costs USD3,4 million. By the end of this year engineering
communications will have been laid, industrial and office accommodations
will have been prepared. Presumably, in June, 1997 the first small-displacement
cars of the series "Eskort" and microbuses "Transit"
will be produced. Within the next few months the company will start the
recruitment of personel for a job at the plant.
About a hundred of people will
put on overalls with an emblem "Ford" in september, but by the
start of the industrialn exploitation of the plant this number wil have
risen in a few times. Besides, the company leadership works actively to
place orders asking for the production of component articles for "Ford"
at the Byelorussian enterprises.

The Situation.

Byelorussian doctors are expecting one and a halt time increasing of
people who are suffering from AIDS. More than six dozens of people will
join 130 officially registered virus bearers very soon. All of them are
drug addicts from Svetlogorsk. Laboratory examinations show that the massive
infection happened a few months ago as the resulf of using the parcel of
drugs from the Ukraine. Probably, the virus of AIDS was hidden in these
drugs. As the Republic centre of AIDS prophylactic measures informes us
there is about a thousand drug addicts in Svetlogorsk. They are mostly
young people of 20-30 years old. As the addicts say, it's not difficult
to buy a squirt with opium at the local market paying 30-40 thousand rubles
for it. This extraordinary situation in Svetlogorsk will probably have
an influence on Minsk, because the connections of drug addicts are well
in known both cities. What concerns the linal duagnosis, it will be settled
after getting the result of extra analysis, though everything is already
clear.

Starry Hour.

Early in the morning people found out the name of the most beautiful
girl of slavonic countries. The beauties from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine,
Lithuania, Bulgaria and Macedonia competed at the International festival
"Slavyanski Bazar" in Vitebsk till 4 a.m. Perhaps, appearance
in bathing costumes on the stage was the most difficult competition for
the girls, because the temperature was 10 degrees above freezing point
and even lower at night. So the spectators were not quite impressed by
the girls who got blue colour of skin.
Unexpectedly for viewers, who gathered in the Vitebsk Amphitheatre,
the Russian girl Nelly Arsenyeva (in the middle of the foto) won the "Slavonic
beauty" title. The rest dignities are distributed in such a way (from
the left to the right): Natalia Volikova from Saratov won the title of
"Miss Charm", Sonya Petrova from Bulgaria is the Firt Vice Miss,
Alexandra Petroska from Macedonia is the second Vice Miss and Eva Tyletska
from Poland won the title of "Miss Grace". They are all so glorious,
aren't they?

The Planet of People.

Five fellows and four young girls who are schoolchildren and students
from Germany are on visit in Minsk now. However, they are not just guests,
but labours. They are working together with the students from the Linguistic
University, the Economic Linguistic University and the Language College
at the kindergartens #65 and #549. There are groups in these kindergartens
where children have cerebral paralysis. The Germans and Byelorussians are
helping there about the household, they are doing up and painting everything
that has to be repaired, they are doing any job.
Besides, due to out International association of humanitarian cooperation
and Environment protection youth union of Nishnya Saksonia, the young people
are going to visit the seminars on ecology. Youth is reuniting together
to save our planet.

The Belarus Business Rounds Congress.

The business rounds congress of Belarus took place in our republic.
Business lite state in Belarus and creation of conditions for the effective
economic activity were discussed there.
The President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko spoke at the congress.
He said he had signed the decree about government support of the Byelorussian
industrialism. The certain measures are set up in this document. They are
about the development of business activity in our country.
Also the industrialism and investments ministry has been created in
the government structure of Belarus. A new ministry of antimonopolistic
politics is based on the old one. Alexander Sazonov who had worked as President's
help has headed it.
- One should care not about the encreasing clerk number, but about
the reorganization of things which had taken place before,- said a new
minister to the "Vecherny Minsk" correspondent.- I can say, that
industrialists may have the branch ministry for the investmental activity
support of non-government property forms enterprises of their own. This
reorganization is expected to strucvture of the ministry for a successful
execution of new functions laid on it
The congress participants have passed a resolution where they accosted
to the President asking to take the elaboration of the tax code project
under his control and put it into practice at the beginning of the next
year. It is also expected to elaborate the project of the National support
programme of industrialism directed to the formation of its flavourable
juridical and social environment.

Snakes' ploys sometimes are very ingenious. How elegantly a Paraguaian
snake has entwined a bough! Its sting is not poisonous. This snake stifles
its prey. This striped being doesn't live at the Zoo, but in an ordinary
Minsk flat. It has already left for the exhibition "Animals of your
flat".
Five enthusiastic collectors coalesced in a group and showed an exhibition
in the Culture and Sport Centre of Railwaymen in Minsk for the fourth time
in half a year. One can find here parrots, lizards, crabs, a hedgehog...and
even cockroaches. Not ours, But overseas.
