In 1991 the MWP finished privatization and now its a Joint-Stock Company "JC".

The plant building started in autumn of 1954 according to the project developed by the Leningrad Institute "Gipropribor" and the Belorussian Institute "Belgosproekt".The main aim of the plant working was making women's watches.

In 1956 the Minsk Watch Plant started its manufacturing activity, and the first 57000 of watches "Zarya" were produced. The details for those watches were given by the Penza Watch Plant which played an important role both in preparing cadre for work and in providing the plant with technique.

In next 2 years more than 210000 of watches were sold. It must be noted that the basic details were made fabrication.

Besides the assembly shop, new automatic, mechanical assembly, instrumental shops have appeared since 1957.

In 1963 the plant sold 1050000 of women's watches "Vympel", which were very popular in the United Kingdom for a long time, started.

In 1964 17 ruby stones women's watches "Luch-1300" were developed and delivered for sale from the MWP.

They were the smallest watches the USSR had ever made before: the size of such a watch was not bigger than 10 copeck coin.

Since 1973 the MWP has been delivering clocks for cars. As we perfect the construction of watches all the time, now we are the only supplier of this production to the gigantic AutoVAZ, which produces small-displacement cars and jeeps "Lada".

The assortment has always been extended and since 1979 we have been producing electronic-mechanical watches, mini-alarm clocks. Today the MWP is a big enterprise and more than 7000 of people work there having over 150 occupations.

The MWP produces over 5000000 of watches "Luch".

We offer about 240 different decorations for our consumers all over the world. Moreover, we are ready to supply not only watches but our manometers of high technology; quartz generator blocks, step engines and so on.

JC MWP has a high leveled

automation and mechanization. 2001 manipulators inserted in

1005 articles of technical equipment, function.

Men's and women's

watches assembly is automated. Now everything is being prepared

for working in automatic assembly shops.

The high leveled technological system of automatic projection, which consists of 40 high skilled working places, functions at the plant. Basis, equipped with modern technical articles, gives an opportunity to increase the world level production each year.

The firm "Luch" is known all over the world as good partner.

About 60% of the production is being exported to different countries such as England, Poland, Checkiya, Slovakiya, Jugoslavia, Africa countries, Gon-Kong etc.

Many of the watches are rewarded with the artistic Council NIIChASPROM Diplomas, Belarus and USSR VDNH Diplomas.

Our production has won a Big golden medal, Leiptsig and Plovdisk fairs Diplomas.
In 1994 the plant was rewarded with "Zolotoy Globus", which we are very proud of,
by the International association of industrialists for the high quality of the production.
In 1996 the Directoes Council of the International Marketing Institute rewarded the
enterprise with the "Almaznaya Zvezda", usually given to enterprises which are able
to overcome inflation and win a competitive struggle, due to the high quality of the
production.
