Now there are several realized application projects based on LeoBase DBMS. One of these is the project of the "JurInform" law information system.

This article contains describing of projects are going to develop into basis of LeoBase in close time. These are not only application projects but these are technologies which can help you produce your own application projects in short time or increase the existing programs to higher level of perfomance.

The InformNavigator

In common viewpoint the InformNavigator is able to be an application program. Generally, the InformNavigator is the technology set for data processing and storing. This system is destined for quick searching of interesting information within large volume not enough structured data and for document modification history viewing. Further, we're not going to part the user and the administrator versions of the InformNavigator. Pay attention the user version isn't able to modificate the document database only.

• quick document finding (near a second) by its attributes (each application case may be different) or for words and combination of words in document body. If the find-by-word operation was successful, the search word position is pointed in text. The find queries can be different: find all words in the selected document(s); find some words which are in this document(s) but aren't in other document(s); find common words for group of documents; and so on. Besides, the word search can be performed by stem of word. For example, the query by word "image" will find the words "images", "imagemaker", but not "imagination";
• compact text storing (the planning compress factor is near 8-10 times);
• operational document editing with automatic system indexes' correction, i.e. without limitation of documents search possibilities. On the database level, the whole document text after editing aren't rewrited. This feature of systems based on the InformNavigator decreases the volume of upgrade files;
• quick adding to the system a big list of new or modificated documents. This task isn't need in operators for information input;
• the optimal system index rebuilding during the input and modification of documents. The indexes are corrected minimally;
• multi-version support for document. Each version can be viewed; changed fragments are tracked. On physical level, each version contains only changed fragments from previous version. The first version contains full text of document;
• hypertext document appearence with multi-style selection and cross reference features. Cross references can point to the other documents;
• hierarchical and linear document classification;
• non-limited volume and quantity of documents;
• possibility of database delivery on changing media. Thanks to this feature different databases and references can be used with the same information system which is habitual to users;
• possibility of realization of information system based on InformNavigator with upgradeable database for users. In this case the database is administrated on the central computer, and users get information in upgrade files which are processed in their databases;
• possibility of organization of several regional centers for data collecting for the InformNavigator database. In this case all centers after data collecting period send all new and modificated information to the central host, which inputs this information in the main database and removes possible conflicts concerning data modification. Then, it sends resulting central database upgrade to the all local centers which input this upgrade in their database. So, each local center has information from another centers, and local centers can produce upgrade for their users.

Systems based on InformNavigator will have high-effective and flexible document word search set. Mass media, big libraries and information stores can use them for quick finding words in a large lists of texts. The attributes search is also important but word search is more using. Convinient support of several article editions is very interesting for publishings. Very important things for linguists are statistic functions for text processing. One can be build a global system for information gathering based on the InformNavigator. It's very interesting, for example, for public relation centers and so on.

The Text Information Compression

We are going to write our own text compression system for storing texts in the system of InformNavigator. It's going to be used for any languages, in particular Russian or English. The main idea of this system: the texts consist of code set, and words are stored in special vocabulary. Trial tests showed the compression factor near 4 - 4.5 times. The result compression factor is planned near 8-10 times.

The internal structure of compressed text is ready to further indexing. It easy allows to attach the developing text indexing system based on LeoBase to compressed text.

This system is developed as separate module and can be used even out of LeoBase.

The Sound Office Project

In many fantastic stories one can meet a computer which subsitutes human: it answers the questions, experts the unusual situations, and sometimes forces human out. Unfortunately (fortunately?), very often it's only fantastic. But world is changing, human too, and computer helps people more and more often. Certainly, it isn't doing without other people who program these machines.

One area where computers are able to subsitute human, to our mind, is office. The computer would make the telephone calls and answer ones. The sound office project includes:

• all functions of universal telephone with auto number detecting, auto-dialing and so on;
• incoming telephone calls fixing: record of caller name, message and telephone number. The computer can fix not only telephone call, but call to specific person, and if he isn't available, it can ask caller to name himself and leave a message to this person.
• "white" and "black" lists for incoming telephone calls. In case if "black" telephone number calls, the computer sounds the specific message for these calls (if he calls several times, it can sound several messages);
• police call in case of office rubber or prohibited data access;
• service employees orders: quantity of telephone calls for separate employee, listening of these conversations, message about places where one can find employee; sound message modifications and so on;
• possibility of sound search among conversations by telephone or office (if the microphone is switched on for office record);
• sound organizers support for employees with functions like normal organizers (in notepads) or like Lotus Organizer;

This task is possible on basis of order-made sound card developed in Minsk. It has telephone jack and possibility of modem switching. The technologies used in this project are information support from LeoBase, speech compressing and recognizing algorithms developed by "SoftInform" company specialists. The density of sound messages packing is about 60 KBytes per minute.

There are some local projects of "SoftInform" company -- newspapers information shell; Economy Court and Arbitration Court information bulletins automatization; enterprise document motion automatization and so on.

Newspapers Files in the Database

Almost all newspapers in Belarus are spreaded not only on paper, but also in computer files. But you can use them as they are. If you need to make the selection of articles with separate author for some period of time, you'll have to view all numbers manually. It's not only uncomfortable but also very tiring.

The original technology of "JurInform" allows to eliminate this problem and get the service level in work with electronic newspapers files to the max.

We hope all people interested this project can get profit from producing of this project to the end of a year as in money form as in other form (for example, as free advertising).

Upgradeable Goods and Services Directory

Almost all electronic (and paper's) goods and services directories besides all its dignities have one large lack -- they are growing old in short time. This seemes to be a little lack becomes very awful in our country where all things change very fast. It might make bad influence in your job (especially when you access to these directories often).

Using its technologies' features, EIC "SoftInform" can upgrade such a database with any period without reinstallations and other difficulties. Now SoftInform starts to develop this project and invite all people to take part in its practical issue.

Information about Minsk on Your Fingertips

For those who are interested in business in the Republic of Belarus and not only there! Pay attention on our new project -- CityInform! It's the database on municipal legislation of Minsk -- the capital and business center of the Republic of Belarus. This project is going to look like JurInform, so all its users are able to start working with new electronic information edition of CityInform.

Databases on CD is the Best Way to Spread Information

In nearest time EIC "SoftInform" is planning to start the project of recording and spreading of legislation databases on compact disks (CD). The project is going to base on native SoftInform database technology which allows to store one database on several disks.
