Brief Description of LeoBase DBMS Advantages

• LeoBase works not with a single DB but with a whole complex of DB's and it automatically traces the completeness and correctness of links between them;
• The search possibilities are substantially widened compared to other DBMSs. It's possible to search on arbitrary logical combination of fields from various databases. The search on key fields is done without looking through all data which is inheritant to the majority of DBMSs at a certain stage;
• LeoBase allows to create arbitrary user's data types which will be percieved by the DBMS as its own. It means that fields of user's data types will be able to participate in all operations supported by LeoBase. The possibility of introducing one's own kind of data easily allows to apply the information support to any subject area;
• Unlike other DBMSs where additional tables are created for work with a part of the base, LeoBase supports the concept of selected records, i.e. a subset of database records selected on some criteria for further work. These records can be sorted on one or several fields from various databases and also to exclude double records with the same values of the field combination;
• LeoBase supports records and fields of variable length. Unfilled fields don't occupy any room on the disk at all and fields of string type occupy as much room as it's necessary for their minimal placing (this allows to set the maximal string size without thinking about the size of DB). Due to this feature LeoBase data occupy substantially less place on the disk compared to other DBMSs;
• LeoBase contains a number of standard system actions which a programmer can replace by his own ones and he can also add new ones. The trigger mechanism is realized completely;
• The mechanism of states allows fast and efficient keeping and restoration of marked records and their sequence without creation of additional database;
• The mechanisms of package change of database allows to add, remove and change records without correcting indices, followed by just a partial database reindexing;
• LeoBase Smart Filer (LSF) own system of buffering data increases considerably the efficiency of system's work with an increase of working memory, and while working in a network it gets the traffic less;
• LSF allows to place one file on several physical media keeping the transparency of work with them. LSF also allows to reserve statically the place for future data. Thanks to LSF there's a possibility of program supporting the "hot" change and addition of a carrier and even saving the data on changeable carriers if there's a lack of disk space;
• LeoBase provides a higher reliability of saving data. At an unexpected switching off power the DBMS will restore database up to maximally possible noncontradictory state;
• The renewing subsystem allows to support DB coordination at remote computers by sending relatively small amounts of data;
• The network version of LeoBase supports customers' work with dedicated DB server;
• The replication system provides coordinated work of several operators working with DB by fusing several database complexes of the same structure. The replication system is an alternative to the network version meant for coordinated work of customers situated at large distances from one another (for instance, in various towns). In this case the network organization of customers' work would be rather expensive, because it would need a special dedicated line. The replication system is an optimal alternative for such a case.
