LeoBase Indices

There are two kinds of indices in LeoBase: common and relational ones. The common index allows to do a very fast search on the values saved in database, i.e. the values themselves are not kept in the index. The relational index is an extention of the common one, i.e. it also indexes thee values but the meaning of these values is the link between two databases. That's why it contains the means allowing to transform fast a multitude of records of one base into multitude of records of another base connected with the records of the first base.

Thanks to the indices structure, the operations of logical (not physical) sorting the data and operations of more precise search are realized in LeoBase. Sorting the data is possible not only on one key field, but on several fields. It's done in chainlike way: first the sorting on first field is realized, then on the second field and so on. The operation of more precise search produces the first number of a record which has the indexed key beginning with a set letter combination. It's a very efficient means for the organization of interactive "quick search".

LeoBase indices system can be used in a different context (for example, with other DBMSs) as an application part in the form of a library.
