Data Replication System

Database replication is a number of activities taken for common use of database set. Replication is an alternative to the network version meant for coordinating the work of users who are very far from each other (for example, in different cities). For using the base by one client this base is saved into his personal catalogue. After client's work, a special program - a replication server - carries out matching the results of their work in common databases.

The process looks as follows:

  1. Identical database copies are distributed to clients working with bases;
  2. Each client works with his base copy, replenishing and changing it;
  3. At the end of work of each client his replication file is created. The file contains database changes made by the client;
  4. A fusion of the files and removing of possible conflicts is carried out on the replication server. Then a server's replication file is formed containing the database changes from the beginning of the present period of work up to the present moment. Processing this file at the client's must lead to getting databases containing the work of all clients;
  5. The server's replication file is sent to all clients. Each client rolls back his actions before the current period of work and processes server's replication file by special procedure.
  6. The next period of work begins with step b). And so on...
  7. !!! - go to the RUSSIAN VERSION
