Completeness and correctness of database
links
- The rules of interlinks between several databases in DBMS operations.
For example, at removal of a record refered by several other records, possibly
from other databases, a LeoBase error will be generated.
Arbitrary logical combination of fields
- Expressions combination for search like [<value><ratio sign>]<key
field><ratio sign><value> parenthesis and united by AND
or OR operations.
Looking through all data
- Sequential viewing data elements from database. This process is inheritant
to some relational DBMSs during complex queries processing, sometimes during
search in the second key (!!!) field.
Arbitrary user's data types
- Descriptions to present some physical data set. The description contains
the data size, comparing function, disk reading function, trasnformation
into string function and so on.
Records and fields of variable length
- LeoBase supports field masking within the record. It means if the masked
field has zero value, it shouldn't occupy disk space for the sake of saving.
In this case the record acquires a variable length. Besides, variable-length-strings
are supported in LeoBase, i.e. the string field itself is the field of
variable length.
Placing one file on several physical media
- The LeoBase file buffering system named LeoBase Smart Filer (LSF) allows
to place one file on several physical carriers. It's achieved by distributed
directories technology, supported by LSF. Distributed directory is a logical
description in LSF containing several usual directories of operating system.
Each directory can be on various physical carriers. At placing a file into
a distributed directory the file can be spread in physical directories.
Thus, file can be placed on several physical carriers.
Static place reservation
- The physical directory may be announced as a static one within a distributed
directory (see above). This means from the very beginning it cannot occupy
more or less definite specific volume of disk space. Static directory reserves
the place for future data which are not written yet in it.
Database snapshots
- Logical marks characterizing the database state and filling at specific
moment. LSJ supports the possibility of activating these snapshots at any
moment. It can be convenient if it's necessary to have a look what was
there in the base at a certain time.
